Its electronics are reusable. That one decision is what the rest follows from: the cost of each patient's measurement falls sharply, and so does the electronic waste left behind — a solution that is sustainable in the sense a hospital's budget recognises as well as the more usual one.
It was built for the case where that matters most. In a mass-casualty event such as a natural disaster, where patients have to be assessed quickly and assessed again, a measurement that is cheap to repeat stops being a line item and becomes an operational advantage.
It is not on sale yet. With TÜSEB support the group is improving the development process, bringing the device into regulatory compliance, and preparing the route to commercial release at scale.
