Temporal bone models for surgical training

The group's first products, and still where it sells most: anatomically layered education models for mastoid and middle-ear surgery. Sold through our own store, ENT.3D.

Labeled anatomy plate of the left ear
Anatomy plate: segments of the facial nerve
Facial nerve segments · the structure the burr must never reach
Anatomy plate: the semicircular canals
Semicircular canals · the landmark set that orients the approach

Colour tells the trainee how deep the drill is

Each layer of the model is cast in a different colour, so the reflex a trainee builds at the bench is the one they need in theatre: the closer the burr comes to a structure that must not be touched, the louder the colour under it. Depth becomes visible instead of remembered.

One model carries the curriculum for six procedures — cortical mastoidectomy, posterior tympanotomy, facial nerve decompression, cochleostomy, semicircular canal work and the ossicular chain — rehearsed as many times as the trainee needs.

CortexOuter mastoid bone — the trainee starts here
Air cellsThe cell tract that opens the antrum

ATTRIBUTION

Designed by a practising ENT surgeon

The models are designed by Dr. Melikşah Çakır, who operates on the anatomy he casts, and revised against how residents actually use them in the lab. Every geometry change comes from an observed mistake at the bench, not from a catalogue update.
